So I was listening to one of my new favorite podcast: Behind the Brilliance by Lisa Nicole Bell. If I had to describe the show, I’d say it’s a blend of personal, professional (not corporate) and creative development, inspiring conversations with people doing big things, and random tidbits that add value in some way or another. Her tone is casual and doesn’t hit the “preachy peachy personal development guru” note that drives some people nuts.
The show still feels like a hidden gem, but my guess is it won’t be that way for long. She’s doing all the right things and filling a huge void, especially on the side of the internet I frequent.
Anyway, episode 26 touched on a topic that’s been near and dear more than once: the “interesting and complicated ways that relationships change when one person experiences success.”
If you’ve ever had something great happen in your life, shared it with friends or family, and gotten a lukewarm or negative response, this episode will hit close to home. If you’ve ever had someone share great news with you and you struggled to be genuinely happy for them (usually due to jealousy, envy, or the mirror), this is also for you. Basically, I think everyone can relate on some level.
This episode runs about 27 minutes (her episode length varies weekly). And once you’re done with that, you should also check out the interview she did with creative entrepreneur, Benoni Tagoe. His candor and nuggets of wisdom made it a really powerful listen.
I listen to positive podcasts every morning and usually on the way home from work, so you can expect more of these recommendations. Happy listening and let me know what you think!
